My niece's fifth birthday party. Specifically, an excellent cupcake made by my sister, eaten by me at the party. It was a GOOD cupcake.

Hanging out with super cool mustachians this morning :D

For me, too.

Marty coming over for dinner every week or two has become the unofficial Sydney meet-up. :D

Can you 'ship' a friendship? Because I love your friendship, or at least how it plays out on various threads :-P

One day I'll come visit Happier.

MPGH is lovely. It's so freaking odd how our friendship formed (through a random thread here in Dec 2015)... our paths would never have crossed in real life otherwise. I can't thank the Mustache dude enough for creating the forum and permitting the universe to allow us to find eachother here.

Totally worth spending time with her....she gets me my favourite drink everytime I build a spreadsheet for her!

Me and MPGH's DH watched a typically ridiculous Steven Segal movie from the early 90s (Under Siege). Amidst all of the killings and explosions and gratuitous nudity she managed to fall asleep on us :D :D :D

It was odd but very easy. We started talking and just never stopped. :)

And don't pick on me for Saturday night. I was very content. Nice dinner, a couple of drinks, and a shitty action movie. Perfect combination!

My old dog has been sick lately, and dealing with all sorts of medical woes. But that didn't stop her from climbing into the raised bed and trying to eat all the ripe tomatoes before I intervened. Her shenanigans let me know she's feeling better, and that has made my day.

Waking up in my own bed in my room that I love in my house that I love made my day. We had a FANTASTIC trip, a wonderful time, so much fun, but home is really great. I'm happy that I love my home so much.

Making the best out of a bad situation we turned the Equifax breech into a credit freeze party. We invited others to freeze credit if they didn't know how or what it was and had ice cream or popsicles while playing various versions of Monopoly.

Cheers to Bagel Dad!

Hope today is a better day.

What made my day was that I had 3 surveys waiting when I woke up. Did two of them in 10-15 minutes, and earned 2$. Before MMM I wouldn't have bothered to pick that up from the street, now it made my day.

My husband taking over all kid and dinner and bed duties last night so I could just lie in bed and rest. It was a great way to kick my cold in its butt; I feel so much better today!

I've been rather busy the last few weeks and the house was an absolute mess. Yesterday evening I did some cleaning. Waking up to a clean crisp house really made my day. Especially because I haven't hired someone to clean for me.

I had my six-month dental cleaning and exam, and I don't have any cavities or old fillings about to fall out. This means a lot to me, not so much because it costs money but because any type of dental work is terrifying for me.

Rained on my bike ride to work today.  Seemed kinda crappy at the time but it still took me the regular 40 minutes to get in to work.  Found out from coworkers that there was a big accident the way I normally take to drive . . . so rather than 35 minutes to get in, it would have been closer to an hour of stop and go traffic.

Khachapuri! (link for those who have never heard of it before)

It's cold, grey and rainy outside while my Southern-hemisphere raised brain expects December to be warm and sunny but I popped down to a tiny hole in the wall near my flat and enjoyed the warming cheesy, eggy, buttery, bready goodness while entertaining the locals with my limited and horrendously pronounced Georgian :)

Your link is broken, but Khachapuri is indeed one of the best things in the world. Your post inspired me to make the Acharuli variant tomorrow so it can make my day too - dough as a vessel for cheese and egg <3

Stopped at the local bike shop today for a couple of cables and they now know me on sight now as the guy that builds old bikes and an ebike project. I like the vibe of that place. Folks who enjoy being outside doing stuff.

Was able to purge some old electronics at the free electronic waste event. Had a fun dinner with new friends and all the kids got along well. Logged into my 401k and for the first time the balance had a "1" followed by 6 more digits.

So after a long life of creatively finding ways not to cook, I tried cooking chicken stew.  It was great!  Yesterday, I cooked another one and it was good too.

Yay HAH!!

Getting home before the rolling wave of thunderstorms hit (I was on the bus and there's a decent walk from the bus stop to my house).

Cooler temperatures after the thunderstorms. It's now 20C. Bliss.

Sold a property yesterday (to a family member). Reduced my debt load by $322,000 :)

Property was being rented out to him, for a break even result for me. It wasn't an investment per se, the intention was never to profit from it. Now he's the owner and I've simplified my financials a little bit.

Win win.

(I got caught in those thunderstorms - scary stuff!)

Yesterday I had a logistic issue with having a car being parked in the next town, and me being alone at home. I organized a ride with someone (earlier unknown) from my neighbourhood the next morning, so I collected the car and was at work on time.

Dropped my Daughter who graduated early from HS at College Saturday about 4-5 Hours away where she will be playing Soccer and more importantly hopefully getting a great education from a very highly regarded Big10 School. Being so young and and going at Semester break was a bit worried as most dads would be. She face timed me this morning and 1) first time I really appreciated my cell phone and 2) she seemed extremely happy and really had her shit together already.

Finding out yesterday evening that we saved 75% of our net income in 2017. And that our spending level in 2017 was only 56% or our calculated yearly FIRE budget.

Realizing that DH has next Monday and Friday off, so if I can convince him to take Tue-Thurs. off, three vacation days will net us a nine day staycation! Problem is, it's gonna be cold, so he's only half convinced. Fingers crossed.

The temperature!!! It's 21 C this morning and the cool breeze is bliss. (yesterday it got up to 34C in the shade and the late afternoon thunderstorm just made it really humid, aka yuk)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
