Sunshine and birdsong, plus tiny fuzzy new leaves up in the tops of the trees.

Nice thread.  We have opened up the screened in porch and we already have bunnies in the back yard, much to the delight of the cats & my daughter.

I played some fun games of squash today with another retiree.   She's debating taking on a six week work contract, 2.5 days a week.  I say, "Why wold you want to do that?"  She says, "Cuz then I can go bugger off to the South of France for a month after".  It is so nice to know other happy retirees!

Learned a new (really old) song on guitar. My daughter sat at my feet and smiled at me and "sang along" the whole time I  was practicing.

Was feeling sorry for myself. Brother came over and left me a piece of his birthday cake, which I am now eating while enjoying a magnificent thunderstorm. Day saved. Plus, how nice that he came over to see me on his birthday, AND the cake is just like the one my big sister used to make for my birthday during childhood. Nostalgia!!

Last weekend I went to a milestone birthday for a relative. It was a great night but I left thinking it would have been nice to spend more time with him.

He just called me and we spoke for 45 minutes. :)

The snowing happening outside is beautiful to watch from indoors.  :) I'm sure driving home from work will not be fun, but gosh it sure is pretty on the tree branches..

My e-bike kit is "out for delivery". I'm as giddy as a little kid at Christmas.

I have been looking for a way to exercise more that I enjoyed. I love riding bicycles but I live in a place with more hills than flat ground. Also don't like that speed differential between the ~35 mph cars and me rolling 2 mph up a hill.

My goal is to start out with the PAS system on some high boost setting and work my way down to 1 or 2 (minimal boost).

I survived my drive to Ottawa and back today with only one near death experience.   Roads were ridiculous.  But better than yesterday which featured a fatal 30 car pile up on my route.  :(

Hung out with a friend/coworker from back in college- I haven't seen her in ~7 years. She moved to my town =) We chatted in a park while her son played. And a rare sunny March day. Lots of fun.

I live in a very windy place (up to 134 kph last week), but overnight was windless with a light snowfall. This morning, every tree in the neighbourhood is covered in two inches of lacy fluffy snow. No big deal for most of y'all, I guess, but for me it was liking waking up into a Christmas card!

I was FEELING my music for my run today. Grinning like a psycho the whole run. Flowers blooming, pink buds on trees, hummingbirds zipping around... it was awesome. AND I timed my run perfectly with a break in the rain.

Last part of a busy weekend and things quieted right down at the restaurant. All of the customers were great and the staff was happy. Mostly spent the evening choosing music to play, chatting with the staff and customers, and leisurely cleaning. Some free chicken appeared out of no where (some people might question free mystery chicken, but not me).

Also got a nice unexpected message from someone I met while traveling.

Gave a gift over the weekend that reminded me that thought is way more important than cost when it comes to gift-giving.

I had pieced together several things for a female relative for a milestone birthday and one ended up being her favourite out of all her gifts.

I bought her a gorgeous nightie, warm enough that she can wear it for at least half the year, trimmed with lace so pretty enough that she doesn't feel like a daggy mum in it, but modest enough that it is fine to wear with little kids in the house.

It was $60 full price, I got it on sale for $12.

She loved it so much she told her all her friends at her birthday dinner, and texted me the next day to thank me again.

I always try to put thoughts into gifts, and I'm so pleased that it made her day.

Woke up to a beautiful morning. One of those days where one steps out the door to get the mail down the street and comes back an hour later. If the coffee and bagel shop across town had been open this early, it would have been icing on the cake for XS and myself.

Sick husband had kept me up all night with his moaning and groaning (just a cold). When I got home from work today and he saw how exhausted I was, he put fresh sheets on the bed so I could have a nap before dinner. Even when he's ill he's still thoughtful and caring :-)

Not today specifically but I had a fantastic weekend -- blues dance Friday night, zouk and contact improv classes and fusion dance Saturday night, then another class and fusion dance on Sunday.  I worked Sat/Sun too and was exhausted this morning, but it was worth it!

Does anyone else get irrationally happy when plans get cancelled?

I have had a busy week, and today was going to be me running from work to errands and appointments from 5am until 7pm, but my last appointment of the day just got cancelled, which means that my day ends 2 hours earlier!

This thread made my day!

Also the luxury of being in school and getting to read and write about stuff I love all day on my own schedule. I biked in to the office late today so I could bake my weekly bread! I didn't actually start my career yet but I suspect grad school feels a bit like early retirement.

Made progress on some projects (house remodel, e-bike) preceded and followed by time on the porch relaxing and listening to the arrival of Spring. Also enjoyed time visiting with extended family. Aches and pains from the hard work but felt good all the same.

I woke to the sound of a dog puking under my bed.
I get up to discover he had shat on the floor.
I turn on the weather network, which predicts 50 cms of rain will start at 730.
I look at the clock :  730.
I take the poor puppy out in the downpour.  It is not quick because he is doing the poop-crouch-but-nothing-is-coming-out walk.
Wrong thread?  Not really.
So what made my day?
Appreciating being FIREd so I could slip back into bed and start over in a couple hours.  😄

While returning home, I was awestruck seeing the sunset. Sky was colored with all orange, red, pink color. I was just standing there till the sky changed its beautiful color into dark gray and black. I can't forget it, I still smile when I recall that beautiful view.

I went to bed later than usual last night, looking forward to still getting 6 hours of sleep before starting an incredibly long week (but I had such a joy-filled evening that staying up late was worth it!).  This morning I was woken up 25 minutes before my alarm: The weather was finally nice enough that I could sleep with the window open.  Thunder in the distance gently roused me from sleep.  I laid in the darkness, warm under the thin blankets, cuddled with the cat tucked into my chest, listening to the singing birds and distant storm, and sleepily waited in bliss until I had to get up for work.  :)  It was a perfect way to start the day.

First - DW and I spent time with friends one evening over the weekend. Had fun. Need to do that in some capacity more often.

Second - our slow home cleanout project is reaping visible benefits finally. Came home to find the youngest child spontaneously cleaned (vacuum'd, dishwasher, etc)!!! What the heck?

Yesterday, when an extended family member said he realized that his high school degree won't be good enough to meet their aspirations and he is beginning to think about college or trade school. It took a few years for the realization to settle in.

What it made it better was my teenager who is in many ways similar and likely to take the same "path less traveled" got to hear the conversation.

I also did not go directly to college after HS either, uncertain what to do with myself. Have been encouraging our teenager to at least be thinking about the future.
