What can you crush with a hydraulic press?
« on: April 28, 2016, 08:38:37 PM »
There's some outrageous stuff on YouTube for sure but this is one of the more interesting ones to me.

The Hydraulic Press Channel. They crush things with a hydraulic press.

What do you think happens when you crush a book with a hydraulic press? This guy tried it...and then this happened!

Hey man, I heard you like crushing things in a press. So here's a press where you can put your press, so you can crush your press while you crush things in your press!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyman-Gordon_50,000_ton_forging_press

This press is operated by a subsidiary of the company I work for... it is quite impressive.

You can likely use it to press grapes for winemaking. Not too hard though or that tannin will come out!

If you live in Ohio and try to use it to press out an axle so you can replace the wheel bearing, sometimes the rust wins and the axle loses...  I've got an axle with a mushroomed out end attached to a hub assembly that is now junk...  Sigh.

My finger once when I was a kid.

My father built a small pneumatic press as a way to crush aluminum cans for recycling (yes feet work better, but the press is more fun if you're a cachivachero and you have the parts lying around).    I smashed my finger quite nicely.  The press was equipped with two separate buttons for triggering the compaction more safely soon after that.

You're really pushing it here.  Speaking of which, is there some sort of upper-limit on quotes within a post? Does the thread eventually run into *compression* issues?

Yeah, I'm surprised enthusiasm hasn't leaked away yet.  At any second it could just burst.

Don't be surprised.  It's quite a weighty topic.
You guys just keep pounding away at this.
Oh, I'm sure we can still push it a bit further.
Yeah, but how would you 'gauge' this?
This may seem like it's getting thin, but that's only from one direction.
Yeah, there are tons of these.
I'm flat out of ideas.
This thread has become just plane silly.
Some of those original posts are getting really squished sideways.
Yes. A bit compressed, those are.

You're really pushing it here.  Speaking of which, is there some sort of upper-limit on quotes within a post? Does the thread eventually run into *compression* issues?

I wouldn't let such concerns bear down too heavily on our conversation.

Yes. A bit compressed, those are.

You're really pushing it here.  Speaking of which, is there some sort of upper-limit on quotes within a post? Does the thread eventually run into *compression* issues?

I wouldn't let such concerns bear down too heavily on our conversation.
It's taking a lot of joules to work my scroll button all the way down to the end of these posts.
It would appear that the original posts are deforming beyond recognition punder pressure.
Let me see if I can squeeze one more in here.
Don't strain too much. We're not in a jam yet.
I'm flattered this has gotten so much attention.
Yes, quite a bit of attention. But, to be fair, it is still a ways from being written up in the press.
Don't shatter my joy with your depression.
Not trying to break anything, just trying to fit in.
Still, you're weighing down my spirits.
I feel a pressing need to talk about my own experiences with a hydraulic press but I'll lathe that for later since it involves a guy I use to have a crush on.

Go back to Reddit you jackasses.

That's right, NO PUN in this response.

PUN THREAD OVER
It would appear that dragoncar feels that this has run to its limit, and that we should now back off.

If we keep backing off, we can only stretch this out to a certain point. Eventually someone will yield.

Where's the video of crushing a hydraulic press in a hydraulic press?

I'd look around for that but I'm really pressed for time right now...

That joke fell flat.
You're squeezing everything you can out of that pun.

That's why it's a smashing success.

Crushed it!  But really, shouldn't we press on to something else?

Yeah, this conversation is getting a little heavy.

Exsqueeze me?
Come on, let's keep this thread compact.
the pressure for the next poster is enormous
I'm impressed.
Someone will crack.
Pneumatter what gets posted, the conversation is very fluid.

And I was worried that the conversation would become heavily forced by now.

Ironically, this chain just keeps growing, and is not being made ever smaller.
