I'm a big fan of Google Music.  It's $8.99 a month, I can upload up to 25k of my own songs and listen to everything they have.  No ads, no skip-restraints, and I can download it to my phone and listen to it offline.  With a $35 Chromecast I send it to my TV and listen to it while I putz around the house.

One of the best features they have is the "radio" stations they set up based on your listening history.  Like Pandora, but so far it seems to make better guesses as to what I like.

Anyway, I've been rocking out to some of that new hipster stuff.  U.S. Royalty (absolutely fantastic), California Wives, We Barbarians.  Also on a '60s/'70s classic rock kick.

@Kriegsspiel

I have a couple recs you might like, based on some of what you have been posting in this thread. Try these out let me know what you think...

Balance and Composure.

Touché Amoré

I did not care for the Balance and Composure, I liked the Touche Amore better. The vocals reminded me of Botch. The drumming style and mixing would preclude me from looking for more from them.

Travis Barker's version of Soulja Boy

Shiny Toy Guns - Major Tom (orig. Peter Schilling)

Travis Barker's version is a massive improvement over the original, IMO. I really like both versions of Major Tom though.

No worries, at least you like Botch. Thats major bonus points in my book. A lot of the stuff I listen to is heavier (like botch).

The Virgins - Rich Girls

slightly less upbeat:
Van She - Sex City

Have you heard Le Castle Vania's remix of Rich Girls? Dope. Van She is great as well.

Now that I've got electro and french house on my mind, here are a couple of my favorites from a few years back.

Plastiscines - Barcelona (Lifelike Remix).
Digitalism - Pogo (Shinichi Osawa Remix).
Cut Copy - Lights and Music (Moulinex Remix).

Unfortunately, I have don't have any other tunes that sound too similar to that particular Le Castle Vania remix, in terms of the super funky upbeat stuff (or those vocals). Russ might know some other recs there...

Here are some tunes similar to the other ones I posted, since you might enjoy these anyway:

Rogues - Not So Pretty (Feed Me Remix)
Van She - Changes (Gloves Remix)
Anoraak - Nightdrive with you (Grum Remix)]
Alex Metric - It Starts

MOAR!

I haven't come across many electro remixes that are both funky and not chopped to hell and back as was the style a few years ago. Here's a few though.

Cut Copy - Far Away (Bag Raiders Remix)
Van She - Idea of Happiness (SebastiAn Remix)
Metric - Help I'm Alive (The Twelves Remix)

I love the really chopped/glitched tunes. As long as its well done of course. Bad glitch is pretty awkward sounding.

Still stuck on Neko Case over here, but I have made room for Luscious Jackson's new album, first new album for them as a band in 14 years!  It's called Magic Hour and it's great.  They also released a kids' album called Baby DJ which my kids LOVE and my husband and I even like too.  So glad to have them back together and back on the scene.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEoTPsU1Q6g

Damning Well - Awakening

The first 40 seconds or so of this song are, IMO, almost perfect for a sporting event "coming out of the tunnel" song. I had suggested playing this song when some guys from my ROTC got to free-rappel in game balls, from the rafters above the court, for a basketball game. They didn't play it (or crack some chem-lights, wave them dramatically, then drop them to the hardwood... the bastards), but it would have been super.

Agony Scene - My Dark Desire
Norma Jean - Vertebraille

For me, these are like getting pinned to your seat back by audio.
