Unless we have some Polish Mustachians here I doubt anyone will have heard of Kabanos (the band not the sausage). But I am obsessed with them right now.

KABANOS - Buraki - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skPjiSzR9n4
KABANOS - Baba i dziad - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxhcomD70Nk
KABANOS - Czerwona Musztarda - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6-t76e1kXc
KABANOS - Czołg - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woiXANaog0U

Currently working on German but Polish is what I am planning on studying after I get that down. Probably a few years at the rate I am going on German though.

I have literally had this song stuck in my head for weeks now since I first saw the episode Topsy on Bob's Burgers. Then I found out recently that the Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt did a cover of the song which is equally awesome in its own unique way.

For your science nerd and quirky music edification, I present both versions of Electric Love.

A song about the joys of vandwelling, at least that's how I'm choosing to interpret it.

As I Lay Dying - Confined

One of the most metal songs to ever exist on this planet.  Earth.  It will metal your face off.

Oh, and grant, I saw them at the Newport.

That's pretty metal, but fortunately I've still got my face.

There's a totally sweet show there on the 28th with Say Anything.

And on 20 July with The Used.

You dig either of them?

In case you haven't been holy shit on today, here's Bohemian Rhapsody on a ukelele.  As a bass player in a prior life, I respect the four strings.

Anyone have any other similar type recs for music that I can seek out.

If you like alt-j, you might like Foals. They are an indie/math-rock band from the UK, occasionally has some electronic elements to it.

Song from their latest record, closer to alt-J:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ_PMvjmC6M

Older stuff is more mathy, but fantastic. Super fun live:

If I can't decide from my own music collection I listen to Jelli Radio online http://radio.jelli.com. They broadcast on FM in some US cities aswell. Pretty much my taste in music with Pearl Jam, Sublime, Muse, 311, Metallica, RATM, Bad Religion, Tool, Queens of the Stone Age etc.. A perfect mixture of fun songs, grunge and metal. I loooove my Jelli!

I was browsing through some upcoming acts at local venues when I came across Craig Cardiff.  Had a $25 gift card I received at Christmas sitting on iTunes so I went ahead and bought a couple albums.

Damn, Walk Off The Earth did this too, which is also awesome..  They also do a cool cover of LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem.

Pandora.

I pay the $5 (or so ? ) for ad free.

Some of my stations are highly tuned via historic likes and dislikes.... and that's fantastic. I can control the general style and sound, but as a result, Pandora' s algorithms often find me a new artist I like.

Last.fm is ad free for free. If you pay for it you get the apps for the computer/phone. Otherwise just use the web page and occasionally have to click resume.

And today it is Psychostick

Unless you are easily offended I don't know how you can't love them. I mean they made a hardcore version of the ABC song.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Man on fire

An episode of Parenthood made me discover this one.

Manages to make me smile and give me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Anyone know any similar songs? I'm not really an indie / folk expert..

Incubus - A Certain Shade Of Green

One of the best opening guitar riffs ever.

Head Automatica - Beating Heart Baby

Excellence in vocals.

Paramore - Rewind

One of Paramore's best songs. The drumming is excellent, IMO.

Styles of Beyond - Nine Thou (Superstars Remix)

This is what I would consider near-perfect guitar + drums for a rap song.

From First To Last - Such A Tragedy

This song makes me want to punch tigers in the face and deadlift infinity, thus breaking the universe. This is also Skrillex's old band, for all you dubstep hipsters.

Roses Are Red - White And Gold

From the most confusing "is that the band's name, is that the song's name" comes a damn good tune.

WHAT?! MORE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER MADE?! WHO IS THIS BEARDED GENTLEMAN!???!??!!!ONE

The Cult - She Sells Sancuary

Bam, it's fucking great.

Eric Carmen - Make Me Lose Control

Eric Carmen, maybe the greatest songwriter of the 1980s.

Kenny Loggins - Playing With The Boys

WHAT?! YOU HAVEN'T SEEN TOP GUN?! KILL YOURSELF! BUT FIRST, SEE IT, THEN BOW DOWN BEFORE KENNY LOGGINS!

Nena - 99 Luftballoons

This is that song that the average Joe likes because of that goddamn awesome funky beat. Everyone who translates it realizes it is simultaneously glorifies and realizes how war is the destroyer.

Audio Karate - Nintendo 89

Between Guernica, TQTTNEK, and Sic Transit Gloria, I think you have some of the best songs of this genre.

Did I already post this? Well, whatever, it's awesome.

The Agony Scene- The Darkest Red

Luckily I listened to this song before working out.

Someone else has heard of the Agony Scene?! Mike is an old friend of ours.

These days I basically listen to the Descendents (don't know how to link, but Milo Goes to College and Everything Sucks are my two favorites) or Queen (Greatest Hits, with "Don't Stop me Now" being my favorite song. It is so damn sassy). Sometimes Alkaline Trio or the Beatles, as they're my daughter's favorite bands.

Going to Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin in November. Television is playing!

I just can't get enough Neko Case lately.  I've been a fan for years but the release of a new album last month renewed my desire to listen to all her albums again.  Like non-stop, like I'm driving my husband crazy, like my three-year-old can sing along to many of her songs.  I'm  a nut.  But she's great!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhnFl3Y2FVI  That's from the new album.

Woo-hoo!  Enjoy!  Her older stuff is more twangy, almost alt-country maybe?  Sometimes she sounds kind of like Patsy Cline.  But her last three albums I'd say don't really have that country-ish sound.  I can't decide which album is my favorite, but I do prefer the more recent/less country-ish ones.  Her voice is fantastic no matter what style she sings in.  She also sang on some albums with The New Pornographers.  Their sound is more pop-rock.  You can have Neko any way you want her I guess!  ;)

Been a bit all over the place in terms of my musical habits this week. Some highlights:

Baroness - Yellow & Green
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
Nine Inch Nails - Hesitation Marks
De La Soul - Three Feet High and Rising
Tool - Lateralus
David Bowie - The Next Day

And I've been trying to get through Oneohtrix Point Never's album on a friend's recommendation, but I just can't connect with it.
