I had a big scramble of home fries, cherry tomatoes, breakfast sausage, and aged cheddar cheese with mexican hot sauce on top.

Oatmeal made with milk instead of water. I put dried cranberries, walnuts, and sunflower seeds in it.

Always inspired (and a little bit jealous) of all the great food Russ and Grantmeaname make, I decided to spend some time and make a decadent Sunday Dinner. The Theme? Duck Fat.

Duck fat roasted smashed potatoes with garlic and Rosemary. The crispy rosemary and roasted garlic went into a bowl of roasted butternut squash and Broccoli and cheese sauce made with a bit more duck fat. All served along a pan seared (in duck fat) Strip Steak.

Unfortunately I ran out of time to make Duck Fat roasted Cashews with Rosemary....tomorrow :)

Crown daisy jjeon! Delicious. (http://aeriskitchen.com/2011/07/crown-daisy-jeon)

But I'm already full and still have a few bites left. I shouldn't have eaten those three peanut butter cookies earlier, maybe...

Went to my brother's for supper last night, he made an amazing roast!  The secret ingredient?  Radishes.  I have never tried to cook with radishes before, they add a wonderful flavor to beef!

wow, thank you! I'm honored. I think it's fair to say both of us feel the same way about most of the things you cook. Especially this duck fat business!

I was going to make kale & ricotta rice balls last night, but then I got lazy and just ate it all mixed up in a bowl

Oh, I discovered braising radishes last year, and they're really good, especially with plenty of buttah.

I enjoy this and had for lunch today.....Take ham and put low fat cream cheese in the middle and rollup and eat. Had for lunch today. I usually double up the ham otherwise it tears but with 2 slices works perfect. 3 of those and fills me up and lower carbs. Not a big "less carb guy" but starting to buy into it a bit so this fits that strategy.

Tonight I made something I decided to call Polish Lasagna, and DH went crazy for it.

Basically, cored a cabbage, cut it into slabs, and put it in the bottom of a casserole dish with bacon grease.  Then on top of that, layered in sliced onions, carrots and potato, then a bit of salt, pepper and spicy paprika, then a layer of kielbasa slices and into the oven for about 90 minutes until the cabbage and onions were tender, and eat with plenty of horseradish and grainy mustard.  Perfect on a cold, rainy day.

Homemade vegetarian empanads, made with shortcrust pastry. Bit of an experiment and didn't turn out very empanada-y, but extremely tasty.

Well, my lover just made some mother-flippingly delicious peppermint patties at home. I cannot even comprehend. I'm eating that.

For dinner, I made chicken with lemon, onion, garlic, thyme, sage and white wine. A trick I learned when I was working in a restaurant is to put some butter between the skin and the meat of the chicken breast. Ooooo. Had it with some kale/onion/millet/asparagus.

Dinner was chicken vegetable soup.  Boiled the bones all afternoon with onion, garlic, celery and carrots then strained out the broth. Put in chicken and chopped mixed veggies. It was yummy! Also, threw a loaf of bread in the bread machine at 5 and when we ate the soup at 6:30, we had warm delicious bread to go with it.

This is my new favorite quick and easy peasy recipe (just forget that it is on the Martha Stewart site).  Broiled spicy peanut chicken thighs with broccolini:

http://www.marthastewart.com/921828/spicy-peanut-chicken

I am substituting Sriracha for sambal oelek.

Great cold too!

a friend stopped by for dinner on her way home from riding bikes, so I made stuffed chicken (I know I've been doing this a lot, but it is seriously the easiest "fancy" thing ever), quinoa, and sauteed asparagus/mushrooms/onions. chocolate pudding with mint whipped cream for dessert. and she did the dishes!

ed.: and washed out my mug of bacon grease :-/ that's alright though, 'cause I'm making more for breakfast!

"Mexican pizzas" are in the oven. Homemade tortilla + leftover Spanish rice + salsa + pepperjack and colby cheese. I'll put some carrot-cumin slaw left from yesterday on top when they're out.

Leftovers reconfigured!

Ramyeon with crown daisy because I'm super lazy!

This is the first week I haven't finished the greens in my CSA box, actually :-(  I still have 1-2 cups of crown daisy and ~20 perilla leaves. I'll make crown daisy jjeon for lunch, I think. That will still leave me with some crown daisy and perilla leaves when my new box arrives around 3pm! Oh well.

Crown daisy chucked in a minestrone soup sounds like it's not a terrible idea. That's what's on the menu for dinner...

I accidentally ate all of this week's organic CSA box's strawberries at once. I intended to savor them over a couple days at least. Oops.

Coming up next: miso soup with mung bean sprouts and perilla leaves.

And I'm pretty stoked for dinner: white spinach pizza on pizza dough I made last night. I got my bulk yeast in the mail yesterday, so a whole new world of yeasty bread products is open to me yet again.

It's the small things in life, ya? Food has become such a great source of happiness for me.

I've never heard of crown daisy. Makes me want to prance around with a crown on my head.

I looked up these two references. I assume you are using the one in the second link that looks like an herb.

It *is* the flower. But the leafy bits. They're also called chrysanthemum greens, and they're probably not sold in stores everywhere. I honestly didn't look for them when I lived in America.

*** Whoah!  ***porn alert!

Me?  Tired old apples (including half eaten ones that my daughter brought home from school in her lunch bag) turned into apple sauce.  Also, homemade ginger beer (9%) to wash it down.  Strange combo?  Yes.

I'm finishing up my first Moscow mule of the evening -- I haven't been drinking much lately so I'm quite enjoying it. My lovely husband is preparing dinner: leftover pork belly with cauliflower rice. We had the pork belly last night and oooommmmmgggg. I'd marry him all over again.

I've got potato skins and iced tea. Dem taters.

I went to the dentist the other day, about three months after my last procedure, and their reaction was something along the lines of "holy shit how did your teeth change color that much since January?" Meh. Pearly whites are nice but not nice enough for me to kick the four-gallons-a-week habit.

I just finished what I've been calling a "tropical muffin". Muffins I made with desiccated coconut, lime juice, dried papaya and mango mix, and raisins. They're fabulous, and I still have all of that stuff on hand to make another batch soon. I'm even going to try my hand at making coconut milk from the desiccated coconut this Friday, so I might use coconut milk for my coconut muffins.

And coffee. Always coffee.

This is my second successful tofu stir fry this week! Snap peas, pearl onions, bamboo shoots, carrots, and broccori. And a pound and a half of tofu, which for reasons I still don't understand costs like $1.50.

Omnomnom.

I got into a creme soda habit and have converted it to a sparkling water habit. Cheaper, but probably just as stupid.
