MMM Hardback cover Image
« on: March 15, 2018, 01:42:39 PM »
Recently I've been having problems falling asleep, so I proceeded to do what I always do when I encounter a problem.

Research, several hours of research into how I could improve sleep.

Most of the tips I found were things I've already done or at least plan on giving a try such as using red light before going to sleep.

But the most common tip that I found that gave me difficultly was turning off all electronics an hour before going to sleep.

It made sense but the problem became what would I fill that time with?

I couldn't do exercise or cook before bed, and I had no physical books on me that I enjoyed reading.

I considered trying the library but most books I enjoyed had a long wait time.

So after a lot of thought I decided to print all of my favorite MMM articles, I had them saved to Pocket already after all.

First I tried printing a few pages from Pocket directly but it used large font and I realized if I did it that way I'd print 1,000's of pages.

So I spent several hours compiling it into a Word File

After it was done the file came to an impressive 483 pages and this was only using my favorite articles.

I'd attach it but it's 13MB and the attachment limit is 4MB
Here's a link to it instead

I then wondered how I would print it all as I had no printer at home.

I looked around and found the cheapest options I could find charged 10 cents a page, which would amount to $48.30 on printing alone

I printed a hundred pages from work for now but feel that printing more would be pushing it.  Especially since I noticed the ink is starting to fade.

I looked online to see if I could find a better option then printing it and sticking it in a binder.

To my pleasant surprise I found this deal
https://www.bookbaby.com/single-book-printing

Which offered to print any book for $19 in any style, hard cover included.

After formatting my work I thought the hardest part was done.

I was wrong

I had forgotten the cover image

The front page took under 30 minutes as I simply had to take the site logo and erase parts of it so I could keep the background.  Had to recreate a line which doesn't look the greatest, but I was satisfied and planned to put it on top of the binder I was using.

Then I realized for a hard cover book I needed a Spine and Backcover

I then spent the next few breaks I had looking for a good background to use, after finding that I had to figure out how to merge all three while changing there ratio's so they approached the proper sizes.

That's where I am now

It doesn't look the best, I considered continuing to beat my head against this, but decided I'd see if you guys had any tips to create a better hard cover then what I have.
