Turn my tears into technology
« on: July 03, 2014, 07:35:51 AM »
I was grooving to some new metal from the band Remembering Never and came across a track off their new album that might strike a chord with some of you. As Mustachians, we definitely use technology, but I know that many of us cast a wary eye toward it and attempt to use our gadgets and products for as long as is reasonable. Why spend more money on that new device that'll be obsolete tomorrow? Why add more junk to the landfill? It seems we're aware of and concerned about things like e-waste, longevity, less consumerism and smart decision making when it comes to technology more than much of the general population, so I think this song, although a bit extreme in its hyperbole, might be interesting for some of you.

Beware - this is some loud stuff and probably won't be palatable to many.

Lyrics:

Electroligion by Remembering Never

Quote
Modern minds.
Modernize methods of life pacified.
So comatose, comfort so bright but barely alive.
Feed it into my veins, keep us all so sedated.
Help me improve me.
Turn my sweat into technology.
Kneel down to your material God.
Crucified circuitry, need to concede.
I'm so lost.
Lord, keep me numb.
I'm on my knees begging you for a new fix.
Lord, I'll sell my soul.
Tie it off, shoot it, tomorrow I'll kick.
Feed it into my veins, keep us all so elated.
Help me improve me.
Turn my blood into technology.
Kneel down to your material God.
Crucified circuitry, need to concede.
I'm so lost.
Fuck time, I'll piss it all away.
I'm so lost.
Keep me distracted from the horror.
Help me improve me.
Turn my tears into technology.
Keep me warm, Keep me safe and warm.

Just listening to that made my throat raw and sore.  Also I felt like I should be in a mosh pit.  I don't think the cats would be happy about that.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.
If you want to know more about me, this Business Insider profile tells the story pretty well.
I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.

Untrue. My cat is happy about back scratches, patches of sunshine, and having her innate superiority acknowledged by her human servants.
