I find the reactions to this thread kind of funny. Not because we should treat others with respect - I know that. However, in REALITY, that's no more than a lovely ideal. When you go up against people like Trump, you know what happens when you treat them with respect, obey social niceties, don't sink to their level? They will run rough-shod straight over the top of you and declare victory. There is no moral, ethical or personal dilemma for me in treating the Trumps of this world as exactly what they are: walking garbage. If people had been a lot less polite to Hitler, and actually believed that he was fundamentally different from the rest of us and capable, therefore, of things we wouldn't normally dream possible, a lot less people would have died. So cling to your ideals if that makes you feel better about the world, but in reality you're not accomplishing anything. The Trumps view your idealism as weakness, and they will act accordingly.
