Keith Nicholls and Andreas Muenchow - two scientists are studying loss of ice in Greenland.   An early paper is available here:

But non ironically - studying ice would be super boring to me. And having to work in remote, frozen areas that are inhospitable to people sounds like a big drag to me. I'm glad there are people who do it, though.
