I've done some similar trips like that to see large swaths of the country. I definitely plan to do more when I don't have a job. It looks like a decent itinerary.

this is going into my post-fire bucketlist...

why would you want to do someone else's roadtrip?

It's a silly trip because it is designed around having 1 stop in each state (except CA which has 2).  I can guarantee you there is more than 1 thing I want to see in most states, and less than one I want to see in some others.

it's a framework to plan things around at least. this potential roadtrip is not going to materialize for another 5-6 years.

Glad you have lots of time.  I think you will quickly realize that there is little point in stopping in half the states in the US.  Why would anyone want to stop in Kansas, Nebraska,  the Dakotas to name a few.   Depends on your time frame and purpose I suppose.

My trips would be more the north south thingy.  Start north in Canada around July 4 slowly heading south down the East Coast to the keys.  Then across to New Orleans and start up north through the middle in March/April arriving in Michigan/Canada/Wisconsin around July.  Cross through Canada to the Rockies and then south to Padre around xmas time.  Then up the California coast eventually arriving in Alaska around July.  Sell the RV in Alaska around September 15th and fly to Hawaii to winter.

Can't wait to spend a summer driving around the US. Personally there is no allure for me to hit tourist trap destinations, many of which are on this map. For someone who is into that sort of thing, it looks awesome!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
