The Greatest TV Shows Ever

EVERYONE. I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT.

You have 1 choice for your favorite TV show. Name the one that you think is the shit. Later posters can game the system, and throw out some awesome shows that haven't been mentioned yet.

If you post spoilers, I will kick you in your junk.

My vote?

Scrubs

Easily has the best soundtrack of any show that's ever been on television, the story arcs are great, and the acting is fucking great.  It also has some of the best characters on TV: The Janitor, and Ted.

The Big Bang Theory.  Surprised I was the first one to name this....

(And I loved Scrubs and MASH as well, not an easy one to pick, but being a nerd I had to go with the one with all the nerdy humor.  Sheldon's Christmas present from Penny are three of the funniest - and most clever - minutes of comedy I have seen.)

I've heard good things about The Wire, and Sopranos. They are on my list...

My wife and I really enjoyed Battlestar Galactica (new version) (obviously!)

Big Bang Theory - just seemed like a weaker version of Friends to me...

BROWNCOATS!!!

PS: Buffy:)

"Buffy: Does it ever get easy?
Giles: You mean life?
Buffy: Yeah, does it get easy?
Giles: What do you want me to say?
Buffy: Lie to me.
Giles: Yes. It's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true. The bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies and... everybody lives happily ever after.
Buffy: Liar."

In retrospect, it makes a lot of sense that Breaking Bad appeals to Mustachians.

1) Entrepreneurship
2) Taking control of your own destiny
3) Flouting the laws and what society deems acceptable behavior
4) A few cubic meters of dollars bills in a discount storage unit
5) Mike.

I'm going to go with season one of "Alias".

Big Bang Theory - just seemed like a weaker version of Friends to me...

While on the surface I get the similarities, they are two completely different shows.  Friends was about a group of good looking Manhattanites that spent their free time in a coffee shop.

Big Bang Theory is about a group of nerds (and two nerdy girlfriends, and of course Penny) who spend their free time in the comic book store.

Friends was about a cool crowd, and Big Bang Theory is about nerdy misfits.  I really enjoyed Friends, but Big Bang Theory relates so much better.  Plus, all the great Firefly references!

I like a lot of the shows mentioned.  My recent favorite is Community, the Mr.'s all time favorite is The Wonder Years (so excited to have it on Netflix).

Daverobev, I'm glad I'm not the only one that just isn't that enamored of the Big Bang Theory.  It just seems formulaic and predictable to me.  I get the references, but maybe I'm not emotionally attached enough to topics to care?

Edited to fix horrible auto correct

BBT was okay for a season or two, but quickly got stale.  The references are mildly amusing, but the plots are so formulaic it can't even be considered in the top 50 TV shows of all time, IMO.

Community is decent, at least a little daring with what they accomplish (alternate timelines ftw.)

Donno what that is, but reminds me of Colbert Nation.  That's a great show.

Craig Ferguson (CBS, after Letterman) is a total riot.  Best talk show on late night (excepting The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, and it gives them a run for the money).

Wow, you thought BBT got weaker with time?  Ah, well, to each their own....  If anything, I feel the opposite.  The first season was very hit and miss and then it really found its stride.  Amy Farrah Fowler was a great addition.  The episode this season where Amy gets the flu was absolutely priceless.  Prediction - Sheldon finally kisses Amy next season.

Aside from Dr Who, I'm kind of addicted to Bewitched and WKRP in Cincinnati.

Both show up at night on the secondary channels while I'm doing stuff getting ready for the next day.

Bewitched is a lot of fun but it also shows how much the country has changed in the last what, 50 or so years. (And I just might have a slight crush on Elizabeth Montgomery.)

I don't usually like Reality TV, but my favorite show is COPS.  Somehow it never gets old hearing the same BS excuses over and over again, whether filmed in 1990 or 2010.  Just checked, almost 14 days run time have been produced.. wow.

Firefly.

“Roommates agree that Friday nights shall be reserved for watching Joss Whedon's brilliant new series Firefly.”

God I love how that series takes every opportunity to bust on Fox for cancelling Firefly after one season....

Has no one in this thread who has seen The Wire not also considered The Shield?

I'm not even usually a fan of police shows and their ilk, but The Shield is AMAZING.

There are many others I could list, but...it always comes down to The Shield.
