Hmmmm. Drunk navigated 3+ miles across a town I'd never visited, to someone else's apartment I'd spent 15 minutes in, with no street address, telephone number, or last names to go by and only a paper map (pre-cellphone days).
While studying abroad, a group of us decided to go to Oktoberfest; I mean, it was just a train ride away, so why the hell not? We had no place to stay (because planning?), but we met some guys on the train over who offered us their floor. Umm, sure (what could possibly go wrong?*). So we dropped off all our stuff at their place and walked across town to the fairgrounds. Only after many hours and many, many beers did I discover that the friend who had gotten us the offer didn't know their address or even their full names. So, basically, all of our passports and clothes and train tickets and everything were 3 1/2 miles away, with no more specific direction than "that way." I somehow managed to retrace our steps.
*The most unbelievable part may be that no one got robbed or assaulted, or even seriously hit on; they were just really, really nice guys who were looking out for a bunch of stupid American tourists. :-)
