Damn.  This song gets better with age and with the perspective of being FIRE.

This is a GREAT song that has resonated with me for years (I am a huge Police fan from way back in the day - hence my username as a variation on one of their albums).

If I'm stuck in a stressful situation while driving - surrounded by people losing their sh*t due to impatience or other general lunacy those couple lines in this song form my go-to "dialogue in my head":

"Another working day has ended
Only the rush hour hell to face
Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes
Contestants in a suicidal race

Daddy grips the wheel
And stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break...
He sees the family home now
Looming in his headlights
The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache"

Brilliant !

They have quite a number of other songs that take a shot at life as usual and shallowness of our lives and our messed up systems / people.

Rehumanize Yourself and One World (Not Three) are also good ones from Ghost in the Machine

Thanks for the reminder !

I always really liked that song by the Police.

Another good song for the working stiff is "Magnificent Seven" by The Clash.
It highlights the futility of spending all your money on shit because it keeps you chained to a desk.

Here are some of the lyrics:

So get back to work and sweat some more
The sun will sink and we'll get out the door
It's no good for man to work in cages
Hit the town, he drinks his wages.

You're frettin', you're sweating
but did you notice, you're not getting anywhere.

My favourite part of the song from a FIRE perspective is:  "Wave bye bye bye to the boss..."

I heard this song recently on the radio, before reading this thread, and thought the same thing. What kind of synchronicity is that???

Love The Police!
