Strangely bad business decisions
« on: August 22, 2015, 02:08:29 AM »
Some friends went to a local nursery recently to find a potted tree for their yard. After going through the the nursery with the owner, they found the perfect tree priced at $90, which was also perfect because they had a gift certificate for $90. They could not easily get the tree in their car, so they said they would be back in ten minutes with dad's pickup. The left, got the truck, and returned. When they got back, the tree was priced at $150!!!  Not only that, but the owner avoided them and let the teenage boy employee help them.

Needless to say, they didn't but it, but seriously, what kind of person does that?  This is a small town, and that sort of stuff gets around! We liked the place and used it as our go-to nursery, but not anymore!

If the place is nice enough that you'd like to continue shopping there, I'd stop in and let him know how you feel. Tell him that you are puzzled by what happened. He will hopefully give a satisfactory explanation. (Hopefully it's not a case of business being so bad that he couldn't let go of a few bucks).
