As a Millennial myself i am not surprised at all to see Sanders up there but Trump kind of blew me away.  Is anyone else just as shocked to see Trump doing so well with Millennials? Below are two links.

People who are younger are typically at the bottom of the food chain . . . and thus historically have been drawn towards change (they have less vested in keeping things the same).  I think you could argue that those two are the most likely to cause change in the future of the US.  That said, millenials don't vote . . . so what they think doesn't really matter.

Trump is winning for completely different reasons than Sanders is.  Scott Adams, the artist who does Dilbert, predicted back in August that Trump would not only dominate the polls and win the nomination, he would go on to completely roll over anyone the Democrats nominate.  And since then he has made many other predictions based upon his same perspectives, that he calls the "Master Persuader Filter" way of looking at politics.  I've been following his blog for years, and have been following his Trump predictions the entire time, and therefore am a witness that he has predicted at least 9 notable events along the way with surprising detail and precision.  It is well worth your time, if you want to see a talented political prognosticator who is not afraid to show his work.

In a democracy, people get the government they deserve.

This doesn't particularly surprise me.  I saw an analysis of the different candidates core supporters and Trump's have included a large amount of young male individuals that hold blue-collar jobs.  That describes a lot of millennials.

Given his professional background it also makes intuitive sense to me; Millennials have only ever known him as this reality television star.  My parents and grandparents still think of him as a successful real-estate mogul that has had dealings with the mafia and who has used bankruptcy as leverage and was featured an awful lot of times in the tabloids in the 1980s.
Which generation do you think initially had a more positive impression of him?

I guess i figured with all the access to information that Millennials would see through him. I will not lie the majority of my friends who are white and upper middle class seem to be voting for him. Their reasons though seem to be due to subtle racism though not policy based at all. Again this is just my experience.

Scott Adams has some really interesting theories about Trump. He has shown his work and has been very consistent in his view since August. I am very surprised that this is not getting hardly anyone's attention.

Nate Silver and most pundits called Trump DOA. That has not been the case and I think that Adams has an idea that holds water.
