Prius tires
« on: August 26, 2013, 12:00:15 PM »
I am doing research on tires for the beloved Prius.

Need two tires to replace the worn out pair. The other two are less than a year old in great shape.

Found these  new 195/55R16 Fuzion Touring online /tirerack.com/

Price is good, tires look good and I can order online and have local shop install $27 per tire.

Problem: Never herd of this brand before and no shop around here seems to carry this brand.
Also, we have always purchased tires with 80k warranty, this one lists 55k.
Is it worth the cheaper price/less warranty?
We get snow maybe twice a year around here, very mild winters (SE US).

The "cheap=bad" aspect is bothering me...

Here are the details:

@daverobev
I saw the reviews on the seller's site, yes-they look like they are loud...
I called two local shops before I posted for a price match and was told these tires are mediocre at best...but look at the price, $63 a tire plus shipping???
Was looking for someone who owed/owns them still to see how they perform in real life...noise can be annoying but the commute is not long, maybe worth it???
for the record, we had Michelin before and my DH was not all that impressed with them for the price..he also had Toyo HP before, which were ok...

I guess it's just a cheaper compound.

I don't have these tyres so I can't really comment, but people often say, if you're going to spend anything on your car, make sure you have good tyres - you can't stop without them!

If you can get a set rated to 80k miles that are only 25% more expensive... you'll come out ahead.
