OT: A Step-by-Step Guide to Complaining About Your Taxes
« on: April 10, 2014, 09:54:18 PM »
http://www.collegehumor.com/post/6963671/how-to-complain-about-your-taxes-a-step-by-step-guide

I particularly liked 5: Say it isn't fair:
Quote
If you're rich, complain about all the freeloaders who get to just keep all $19,000 they made last year to themselves, and if you're poor, complain about how rich people ought to pay more. If you're in the middle class, it's even easier: just complain about EVERYONE.

6 was good too though.

Good stuff! I hadn't thought too much about my tax rate, but since that other thread had a poll, I calculated it, and may need to print out this list. :-)

Anytime I think of taxes, I always think about the following scene from the new Sleepy Hollow.

I have to admit that, because I estimate my marriage penalty to be around $10k/year, I may just start complaining about taxes for the first time in my life (also, AMT, which sucks extra hard in CA with high state taxes and high real estate prices -- the two biggest potential deductions).

edit: AMT does not necessarily exclude home mortgage interest

Wait, did you just bury the lede there, Dragoncar?

I never knew lead == lede in that saying.  Thanks for the education!
