I personally have LOVED the stories on this thread over the last 8 years and I’ve contributed a couple. But I’m ready to declare this thread dead as of the end of 2024. There is just too much rage-bait fabricated stuff circulating (half of it written by AI) for this to even be fun anymore. So many times over the past couple of months I’d be reading something random somewhere and start thinking it would be a good thing to post here - only for whatever I’m reading to pass the threshold of plausibility and get silly.

It was a good run though. Some favorites of mine were:

Captain awkwards “every part of your plan is horrible and together they make Voltron of horrible plans.”

Spicy food is not good for little tummies.
(I’ll edit back with links in a bit)

I sometimes think back to the early 90s when people thought the internet would evolve into some sort of utopian community that would spread knowledge - and wonder what they’d make of influencers, pornographers, scam artists and other misanthropes taking over.

I meant it as a general lament; I don’t get to decide the thread is over at all. I didn’t think anyone had the power to truly end a thread, even the op. I guess the mods do, technically.

The mods can do it but for regular threads you started they can't be deleted. Although you can delete.your posts in that thread and edit the topic. I don't know about journals though but many "disappear" completely. I've deleted myself out of all the journals because there are just too many new posts to follow. I still read lots of them and appreciate what people write but I don't participate. I was just reading @Retire-Canada  journal and it always fills me with unmustashian lust!  Bad boy ;-)! I've always like this thread - especially as an already FIREd person since it makes me NOT miss work.
