Montreal Formula One F1 Places to stay
« on: January 03, 2015, 11:09:53 AM »
I plan on attending the races in Montreal in 2015, and am trying to plan way in advance.
I'd like to get an airbnb for my family near the most convenient metro station to the race.
Any advice?

Hey Ice, I don't have an airbnb suggestion but I ended up being on Montreal that weekend a couple years ago and stayed at this modest guesthouse ("auberge") overtop of a Mexican Restaurant right plunk in the old city. It was wonderful, very well priced, location can't be beat for getting a sense of the beautiful city and great breakfast included. There are a big set of stairs though (good workout with suitcases!).

I think it must be close to the metro for the races since there were hundreds of race fans in the vicinity.

Thanks!  This is exactly what I was looking for; I was getting a little tired of airbnb as well.  I will probably end up staying here thanks to your suggestion!

Glad to hear it :) Hope your stay is as nice as mine; it was recommended to me by a friend who loved his stay as well. I did a quick google and see that there are some mixed reviews - it is definitely more simple than luxury, which I found awesome and refreshing.  The manager went above and beyond to help me find a safe spot for my bike (Montreal is a premiere cycling destination but theft is notorious). If you're lucky you'll be treated to hearing the Mariachi band performing in the restaurant below!

One other suggestion: check out one of the nearby crêperies (I think I went to chez Suzette) - my mouth is watering just thinking about it..

We recently stayed in Old Montreal and found that it was walking distance to Chinatown, where we ate most of our meals, great restaurants and not expensive, and also were able to pick up some cheap fruits and veggies to snack on.

We found that we really did not need a car in Montreal, wonderful transit system. And this is coming from someone who hasn't used a bus in years, we have a very poor transit system where I live, plus I live in walking distance to a lot of things, and had never been on a subway.

I found Montreal to be very friendly and would love to go back again. Enjoy your trip.

I'm looking forward to it; I checked out airbnb as well, looks like they have 'surge pricing' just as uber does.
That mariachi band gives me pause though.  Is it loud in the hotel?

Thanks, I'm looking forward to it!  I'll be driving up from the Manhattan area, wife, kid, and other married couple in tow in our Odyssey.  I'll park the car and explore.

Re: mariachi band - it wasn't loud and they only
played for about half an hour in the early evening.
