Also find a tennis player in your area. My dog LOVES tennis balls, and it’s nice because once you know someone who plays, you have a lifetime supply. They only use them for the sport until they lose the proper bounce, which is long before they outlive their usefulness as dog toys.

They’re usually happy to unload the “useless” balls, too.

When I had a dog he didn't like toys but loved tearing up paper, so his "toys" were totally free toilet roll tubes and scrunched up newspaper, sometimes with treats hidden inside but that wasn't necessary. Give it a try!

Toilet paper (and paper towel) tubes are so popular - dog people I know call them "to-do tubes", their dogs just love them.

One of the things a groomer does is to release the dogs anal glands. It can lead to infection and surgery if ignored. Bigger dogs do this themselves while pooping. I get my dogs groomed every 2 months and then bathe and trim in between myself.  Their toys last forever because Maltese aren’t destructive.  Grain free diets are causing heart disease even in young dogs. There is a huge study going on and right now only the big 5 dog food companies are meeting the standards for making food that is not causing diet related heart disease. I was shocked as I never used to feed the big 5. Royal canine, purina, are 2 of them. I have had great luck with purina pro plan and RC breed specific. Got rid of one dogs skin infection. Show Breeder’s with expensive dogs switched once the studies came out.  I have spent the most money on vet bills and medication as the dogs aged. Plus small dogs need dentals.

All dogs need rentals. Dogs with bad bites will need cleaning more often. Brushing their teeth yourself is even better if you can get the dog to cooperate. Mine let me do nails, but not teeth.

Our big dogs never needed dentals and the vet never recommended it.  They would have because they love money if it had been needed.

Mines a fan of the “bad box!” command.

Not that hard to clean up, and is her absolute joy in life. :-)

You are lucky. One of my medium sized dogs had a bad bite and she really needed the cleaning.

Our little ones needed them every year so spent a fortune. The big dogs were 80lbs and I read the teeth are better the bigger the dog. My 5lb dog had no teeth by age 7.

Some of it may be the shape of the muzzle and how good the bite is. Most small breeds have distorted muzzles. Plus a big dog has enough bite strength to chew bones, which helps a lot.  My 2 medium size dogs with good bites had much better dental health than my third dog who had a bad bite - all the same breed. 45- 50 pounds.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
