Last day before a shutdown or holiday break
« on: December 23, 2015, 02:14:46 PM »
Surprising how few salaried people are in the office today.  Everybody is taking vacation and I am saving mine so I volunteered to be the only one from my team on site in case problems came up.  As fate would have it, the handful of issues would have been fixable from home, but I still came here just in case.

Makes you wonder how much organizational bloat could be cut and still operate just fine.  The salaried people that did show up left for lunch and never came back.

This doesn't say much: a lot of procedures are not emergencies and can be performed at any time, thus it makes sense that they don't happen over weekend. Same for companies: one thing is "keeping the lights on" and another is working at full energy to make sales, etc.
