I called to cancel my internet mid-billing cycle, and sent back the modem in their prepaid envelope. I then got billed for the next full month, even though I was supposed to get a credit for the unused portion of my last month. They told me I would get the credit on the next bill for both the new bill and the credit, and I would just have to wait. On the next bill, it said there was a credit, but there was no cheque, and no credit on my credit card. I called again and they said they would mail the cheque.. we are now at 2 months after cancelling service. They finally mail it a couple weeks later, with a typo in my name so I can't auto deposit it, and I have to go to the bank, which tells me to get it reissued with the right spelling. Fuck that. I go to my other bank, which does deposit it.
Finally, 3 months after cancelling service I'm done with the whole thing. At least 5 long calls with awful service reps who give me the runaround every time. I suspect they do this so that most people won't bother and never get their refunds. I made a complaint to the consumer protection agency, but who knows if that will go anywhere. All that to say, it was fucking bullshit and internet companies are the scum of the earth.
