inlaws
« on: June 25, 2015, 08:29:47 PM »
Brother's wife's parents are now homeless after another eviction.  Other daughter gave them 1,000 dollars last week (rent was 400) and they still managed to get evicted and have 2 dollars left in checking.  Mom had a flat tire today.  She had no place to put all the belongings in the trunk to get out jack and spare so I got called to bring my hydraulic floor jack to remove tire.  Brother's wife took tire and bought a new one which I installed.  She then gave them 200 bucks and they are in a hotel for the night.

They have done this before.  Completely irresponsible.

Sorry to hear that.  I can already predict the responses of "by helping them you are just enabling them", ect.  I know so many family and friends that have relatives that are similar and as much as I want to take the hard line position of not enabling them, I myself can't see them starve or be on the street.  It really is a very difficult position to be in.

So, how are things going now? Sounds like their kids are responsible (so it skips a generation?). Sorry you and family are going through this (again).

They have found a place that will rent to them but they don't have the deposit until next Friday so they will be cramming into my brother's house including their two dogs until paycheck.
