My Mum got me this card, as she knows I am interested in RE. Thought y'all might like it.

That seems to encourage the puritan work ethic - i.e. you must work, even if you're FI. 

In other words, it seems like your mom is sending a message that you aren't on the richest list, so you should keep working, and not ER.   That's how I read it at least.

To me, getting on the richest list isn't a goal, so why would I check for my name there?

I didn't read it the Arebelspy did.  Riches aren't always financial.   Card didn't say that it was based on $$$$$. 
I think it's good motivation.

The quote seems to say one thing, but the picture says another thing.

Who is Robert orben?  Apparently a comedian and certainly not one of the richest people.  So he's an 87 year old still working because he needs more money.
