I did a little research for my latest post "When Financial Geniuses Sell Their Name for Money." I got the idea from one of my readers showing me that Burton Malkiel was overseeing a new Emerging Markets Fund here: http://www.usamutuals.com/i/u/6149817/f/HedgedEmergingMarketsFund/Fact_Sheet_-_USAM-WaveFront_Hedged_Emerging_Markets_Fund-2015-Q3.pdf

The fund has 5.75% sales load and a 1.75% expense ratio. I also talk about Dave Ramsey and the endorsed local providers that he gets paid big fees from to support them in ads for using high fee funds.

So what do you think? Is this legit for guys that are super trusted by the public to hawk their wares that will make them big bucks? I'm thinking its ok but I just find it interesting how they rail against high fees and people who charge them but are cool making some money off people doing just that.

Hahaha +1

But really though? Surely Ramsey understands that you dont get 12% returns on active growth mutual funds. So he's cool getting a couple million dollars over the years for misleading people. That is, unless he truly doesn't understand

I think in a way it's like politics. A few may go into it genuinely wanting to do good. But the system, the money, and the power insidiously corrupts all who come in prolonged contact.

Who knows what goes through his head? Maybe “I'm still helping people”, It's a business decision”, “I have employees to pay”.
