Hi all,

I've had some good feedback here on my financial calculators so I thought I'd ask for some feedback on a coronavirus mask use visualization I'm working on.

http://engaging-data.com/pages/scripts/masks/masks.html

The idea is to show quantitatively the effect that masks can have on coronavirus transmission.

We don't know exactly how effective masks are so it shows at different levels of mask wearing and mask effectiveness.

You can hover over the chart and it'll tell you the effect transmission rate (r0) and what that means in terms of exponential growth of cases.  You can also change the population density of the area under consideration and the amount of social distancing.

If anyone has suggestions on how to communicate this most effectively, I'd appreciate it.

It's beautiful but the sort of people who appreciate that way of displaying data would tend to be the sort that probably don't need to be convinced in the first place.

Channeling the thought-pattern of some former work colleagues: how the hell can 1.91 people get sick? I've never seen 0.91 of a sick person in my life. Someone is either sick or not! Something is wrong with your data!!!11!
