He more or less admitted that he started his marketing firm so that his motivational business speaking would be backed up by real world experience. The problem is that I don't care because he's still a motivational business speaker. There are tons of them all over the internet and while he's at the top of the food chain, to me that subject is completely uninteresting because it's so vague. I enjoy learning about sea changes in business, technology, and the economy, etc - big picture stuff - but no amount of personal branding and high energy will make his content interesting to me.
Don't get me wrong, he seems like a nice enough guy. But it's tough to tell where the mile a minute lip flapping hustle ends and a real person begins. I prefer to listen to business people like Scott Galloway or Peter Thiel, even if I disagree with a lot of their arguments. There's substance to their thoughts.
