Yeah, they look totally normal to me but then we subscribe to one of those surplus/irregular rejected produce delivery services. I'm used to oddly shaped/sized but perfectly serviceable fruits/veggies.

I had no idea they were supposed to be the same size! I don't think I've ever paid attention to that before when I've bought potatoes. I suppose it must make a difference for some types of cooking. I just chop them all up and they end up looking the same regardless.

Woah, where did it say they were a bargain? Seems like a good marketing scheme would get you for a few extra cents. Use a little misdirection on how the price is set.

Yeah, these are nicely marketed seconds. The smaller one likely just due to size, the larger one for the blotches. If sold with other potatoes loose, they'd likely to be left behind as the produce is picked through, so instead the are packaged up as ugly potatos.

The cheap brand in our store sells carrots that are too ugly to fit in a bag of expensive brand carrots. And yes, sometimes they are not straight or they are knacked. Or too thick of too thin. But alwayd edible.
In the past, the farmers could not sell these carrots/potatoes to the grocery stores and they would just recycle them back to earth, or deliver them as animal food. It is very good that we now eat these products. I always make sure I buy those ugly carrots.

Yeah I quite like buying the 'ugly' avocados in a bag. The ones sold individually are very large and the 'ugly' ones are smaller and more convenient. That and I'm usually getting 6-8 smaller ones in a bag for a similar price to three large avocados.
