Cycling - the tipping point
« on: October 25, 2015, 04:38:23 PM »
OK, so I've been doing more and more biking around my lovely town of Denver, thanks in large part to MMM, and also the e-Bike conversion kit I got at the beginning of the summer.  I've never really used the motor very much on my bike, the vast majority of time I just pedal around like a normal bike.

Here's the thing - for the past few months, biking around was an energy sink.  It was hard and it made me tired by the time I was done.  But lately (and by lately I mean the past week), I've noticed that biking doesn't make me tired at all!  In fact, when I'm done biking around I feel invigorated and I want to to more stuff!  Uhm, wow, that is a huge change.  I never ever thought I'd find biking anything other than hard ass work.

Has anyone else noticed this type of tipping point in their own life?

Sometimes, but mostly I just blow it by riding farther.  So I'm still tired!

Yes. This happened to me after a few months.

Having said that - I just moved, and doubled my commute to a total of 1.5 hours per day of cycling, so now I'm back to being somewhat tired again (but - hey - it's still better than spending that time on the bus :).

So, yes, welcome to the club. Also - make sure to stay hydrated, that can make the difference between exhaustion and an easy, cruising ride.
