Your thread title is incorrect. You should correct it to read: "I'm bored and I want to start an argument thread on a worn out subject and see how long it takes before it gets locked."

Not aware of one. The Mormons and the Koran basically have that argument but the focus is on "God" not Jesus. Most of the sects think the other is wrong.

Most Christians do agree:
Jesus is God (unless they are the Arian sect that died out, Arians believed he was the son of God)
The Trinity
The Ten Commandments should be followed
Mary was a virgin and the miracles of Christ
That Christ is the redeemer

They tend to disagree on a bunch of legalistic details and focus on their differences rather than their similarities.

If you want to sidestep most of that focus on the Sermon on the Mount. Without a doubt he was addressing everybody. It is extreme and most recognized instantly that they can not do it. Thats okay because according to him, he fulfilled the law and payed the price for you. How this gets lost in tithing, rules, you must do this to be this or this-- who knows? Get a bible with the words of Christ in red. As a true Christian you can't go wrong focusing on the red. Read the red a lot. Don't get me wrong, if you attend a church the building isn't free and the pastor must feed his family so you have a duty to contribute. I just argue that farm yield for Levite priests is not equivalent to 10% gross income paycheck. I don't want to argue here. There are plenty of sites on the internet for that.

Oops there is a book. The bible.

Matthew 7:
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I highly recommend Christopher Moore's Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal.  It is in the ballpark of what you are talking about.  It's funny and a good read.  While it has a bit of criticism of religion, I don't think it would be overly offensive to religious folk.  (I'm not religious, so probably not the best person to judge that.)

If you're not familiar with Moore... To me he reads a lot like Douglas Adams.

It was actually pretty damn entertaining I think you are talking about "The Last Day" by Glenn Kliener. For those interested it is more science fiction-y than preachy. Basically exploring the what if it happened today and who believes it or thinks it's full of shit. Here is an actual description of said book.

Quote
Just in time for the millennium, Glenn Kleier mixes bioengineering and religion, miracles and modern warfare, politics and physics to produce a gripping tale set in the Middle East at the dawn of the 21st century. When a mysterious explosion destroys a top-secret laboratory in the Negev desert on Christmas Day 1999, Jonathan Feldman, a reporter, isn't satisfied with the official explanation. Neither is the Vatican, nor an American fundamentalist preacher, nor the patriarch of the Jehovah's Witnesses, all of whom believe that Armageddon may truly be at hand.

After a New Year's Eve earthquake strikes the temple at the Well of David and a mysterious figure appears in the ruins, strange things begin to happen. Reports of miracles filter in from throughout the region, and the legend of Jeza takes on a life of its own. When the young miracle worker chooses Jonathan to connect her to the world and broadcast her warning of the cataclysm to come, the world's religious leaders are plunged into conflict.

Seeking to discredit her, they spread the secret of her high-tech, bioengineered birth. But their actions backfire; Jeza's influence grows. Holy wars break out in the Middle East and chaos erupts all over the world. As Easter 2000 approaches, the political situation grows even more tense: Will there be another crucifixion, another resurrection? Kleier handles this complicated plot with ease, and fans of futuristic thrillers won't be disappointed.
