Basically I want to design a cart somewhat like the picture attached.

It must be light enough to be towable by bike. But also large enough to handle as many wheelbarrowfuls of compost or mulch as possible. Maybe 5-6 if that's not too much to ask.  The one in this picture is rather small for our needs.

It must be made out of cheap materials that I can easily find around town. It can be welded because I have welders at hand.

Basically point me to an existing large bike cart on the internet that I can show a picture of to the welders.

We'll use it to speed up the work of spreading mulch and compost over the 100 foot beds in our 1.5 acre farm.  It took us 3 man-hours to do 2 beds and that's just too long.

There's a bike shop near me with an insane trailer setup that allows them to tow numerous bikes to events. They have some photos on their Facebook page which I'll link below. I once saw them tow their crazy trailer with a standard Burley trailer attached to the back, so apparently doing a trailer "train" is also a possibility.

This is not exactly what you need, but maybe close -- at least in size. I bet if you called the shop, they'd send you more info and photos and maybe even brainstorm with you. They're nice people.

Look for something like the "Strongway brand garden cart" and build upon that. You are looking for the one with bike wheels.

Surely cheaper versions/brands to choose from or you could duplicate it with your own wheels and tubing.

Alternatively we have a folding kid hauling cart that could easily be rebuilt into a utility cart (just add thin plywood box). I've seen these at places like KMart and garage sales.
