Speaking of bacon torture.  I ran a marathon last fall and at about mile 12 there was a guy holding an official looking sign that said "Bacon stop ahead".  Turns out he was a filthy liar!  There was no bacon.  There was brownies, oranges, M&Ms, beer and bananas at various points along the course but no bacon.

You should have ran back that 14 or so miles and kicked his ass for getting your hopes up like that! ;)

Chocolate covered bacon is amazing,.....

I love bacon. I have lost 30 pounds eating bacon/eggs/coconut oil etc. I do drop off the keto bandwagon every once in a great while though when my husband asks for my famous chocolate chip bacon cookies.

YUMMMMMMM If I do say so myself.  and ***TOOT*** my own horn :P

Also repeat after me.

"After performing meta-studies there has been no link found between saturated fat and heart disease."

There now you can go back to eating your bacon occasionally as you like, soft and fatty for some (personally my favorite) or burned to a charred stick for others.

webMD may not be the best place to go for your medical and dietary advice...   :)

You got that right!  Amazingly we have the WWW now and can actually research things for ourselves.

I love bacon.   I do not moderate my intake.  It is not a representation of our consumer culture.

Consider this --

Bacon is a renewable resource
Bacon is one of the least expensive meats
Bacon is often sold as a loss leader
Bacon requires no refrigeration
Bacon is very efficient -- the calorie to cost ratio (about 1,600 calories per pound) is decent  -- fat is a very efficient fuel
Bacon does not spike your sugar like wheat or lead to auto immune leaky gut syndrome

Wheat is the true representation of the consumer culture

It is highly marketed
It has virtually no redeeming vitamin or mineral aspects
It is not a food that humans ate or would eat genetically
It is put into damn near everything because it is so cheap
My cats and dogs will not eat a bowl of flour therefore I doubt that it can even be classified as food

Bacon yes!  Wheat no!   I believe MMM fully agrees with me on this one.

Neither bacon nor wheat are inherently bad for you. Living your life based off of random ass studies poorly reported via the internet is probably not wise. Plus BLT FTW.

lalalalala I am not listening to your bacon hostility.  Why do you hate America?

Seriously though, bacon is like coffee or many other nice but not essential items.  Once in awhile is great, all the time is bad.

Whoa whoa whoa there, buddy. Say what you like about bacon, but let's be careful about throwing around these kinds of unproven generalizations about the liquid of the gods.

Coffee is DEFINITELY essential.
