I checked my Ticketmaster account tonight and I have three pairs of free ticket vouchers thanks to the class action settlement for Ticketmaster ripping everyone off with fees from 1999 to 2013. No word yet on what these tickets can be used for. They are supposed to be putting up a list of eligible events soon. I'm hoping I can get some free concerts and ball games out of this.

Anybody else get free tickets? Check your Ticketmaster account.

It automatically showed up if you didn't opt out. I got some extra discount codes for additional tickets too.

I got the discount codes.  It was automatic, as long as you didn't opt out of the class action.

I got pairs of free GA tickets for nonexistent (so far) concerts and $2.25 off other tickets -17 of each. Doubt I'll end up using any of them, though.

I got one $2.25 voucher. I don't even remember using Ticketmaster ever, so I guess it's better than nothing!

I got the same. Have to wait and see what the "eligible concerts" are before I decide how useful they are... I'm thinking not very, since they are going to publish a list of eligible events. If it were more like "everything's eligible unless we say otherwise" I'd be optimistic. But if there are so few events that they can make a list of them... probably not a good sign.

We got 14 GA free tickets, and 7 $2.25 discounts. Wow. And they're good through June 2020. :D

I think I only got some $2.25 discounts. Big whoop. I'll save even more money not buying tickets to things.

Damn, good call. I remember seeing the lawsuit but didn't expect it would really affect me. I got 5 discounts and 5 free ticket codes.

Yeah, that's exactly my feeling.  Um, $2.25 off $75, yay???  Pass.  Just like the tons of coupons you can find for junk you don't plan to buy anyway.

I got 2 2.235 discount sand two pairs of free tickets.  My wife probably has free tickets in her account as well.  Probably only redeemable for some really bad shows that we wouldn't want to see anyway, but I'll use them nonetheless.

And to get the $2.25, you have to pay Ticketmaster probably $10 or more in fees on top of the cost of the ticket (and whatever portion of the ticket TM also gets). TM is up there with the cable/internet providers in terms of terrible monopolies sucking your cash away. At least I have the option of not going to TM events. I don't really have that option with internet access.

That would be salt in the wound to have a "free ticket redemption fee" or "coupon redemption fee"

I had eleven bucks worth.  Ticketmaster is a scourge on humanity.  We like to go to lots of shows -- especially independent artists.  I'd rather buy their $5/$10 CD and put the money directly in their pockets.

They've posted nine pages of concerts that you can use the vouchers on. But they are experiencing heavy loads and you can't actually get to your vouchers.

The couple of venues I'm familiar with on the list are places that have seats up front and GA lawn seats in the back so I guess the vouchers would give you the lawn seats.

But all of this is irrelevant to me since they didn't post a single show in NYC ;-)

Utterly ridiculous. I had several free tickets, went to the 9 pages of concerts, and there is not one that is nearby. Plus the artists are all none I want to see (Splipknot? who are they?)
Once again Ticketmaster proves why they suck.

Yes, these free tickets are truly a tragedy. The shows are very limited and they're mostly for really popular bands that I don't like. And I only was able to get $600 worth of re-sellable tickets so far because their website keeps failing. ;-)

Face punch me.  I received the maximum 17 free pairs, which is simply evidence of a rather spendypants past life.

They posted all the concerts in Texas and they seem to be all in Dallas, which means if you live not in Dallas, you have to drive a very long distance, because amazingly enough Texas is a fucking huge state... so yeah.

Hope they post other venues at some point, but otherwise they win since they know most people aren't going to drive 2+ hours for a GA admission unless they're super into a certain band that they happen to have free tickets for.

Four pairs of tickets.

Four $2.25 discounts.

Zero eligible concerts near me.

Here's hoping that changes sometime in the next four years before the vouchers expire. LAME.

They posted a bunch more tonight. They still suck but there are some in new cities that weren't there before (NYC, Houston, Philadelphia etc.) so maybe you will find something you like.

The first batch was big bands that are past their peak. The second batch appears to be slightly more counterculture stuff plus a bunch of tribute bands.

Here's the site
http://concerts.livenation.com/microsite/settlement

Looks like you have to use them by March 2017, and the limit is $10M overall. So I'd guess that they get burned through more quickly than that.

This turned into quite a project for me this week! I decided to just cash everything in for free tickets to the most (hopefully) resellable concerts I could and then list them on Stubhub for a cheap price. With so many vouchers, even selling at a heavy discount will turn into real money. To add to the fun I got several more $5 vouchers apparently for being such a "good customer" for "buying" so many tickets this week with their free vouchers.

I ended up with so many I made a spreadsheet to help me keep track of everything.
