Full disclosure: I am not joined with the Friends and have spent my life as a liberal Christian of the Lutheran variety. But I like to say I feel like a Lutheran in Quaker clothes. A significant part of my family were Quakers in the 18th/19th centuries (New York) and my husband's family were associated with the Church of the Brethren -- another one of the historical "Peace churches." I have become more acquainted with our extended families and their histories. As a result, I am more aware of their values and how they influenced our families even up to present day. Now in my mid-forties I am undergoing my own spiritual discernment and find myself increasingly drawn to Friends' practices and values. I am doing a great deal of reading, writing, and studying at the moment to sort through it and examine my conscience.
It seems to me that a great deal of what is discussed here (voluntary simplicity, frugality, environmental stewardship) is consistent with the lived values of Friends, even though motives for practicing these values may vary.
I was just curious if there are any Friends who regularly visit this site? (I am not trying to provoke heated discussions of religion, but am just interested in knowing if any lurk here.)
