When my kids are off the payroll, that is $50k per year in "found" money.  Smaller place, less driving, less food, no kid/teen events, no tuition...this list goes on.

Wow, is it really that much? How old/how many are you kids?

3 girls (1x HS, 2x MS) all in gymnastics, which may be the most expensive sport on the planet.

Ah!  That makes a bunch more sense then.

Ah!  That makes a bunch more sense then.

I have a gymnast daughter and we actually hit the equivalent of the gymnastics financial jackpot with her (she's on a full ride scholarship at a Division 1 university), but it was still expensive.

We coped by doing things like cleaning her gym in exchange for her training, sometimes sending her to meets with other parents or her coach, etc.

She saw and shared in the effort to keep her in training and is a better person for it.
