The Today Show had a segment this morning with their personal finance correspondent (I think she is named Jean Chatsky) on how to fund a comfortable retirement . The advice was fine, if conservative: She advocated saving in 401k's, IRAs, holding off taking Soc. Sec. as long as possible, buying an annuity to fund basic living expenses, yadda yadda. She even mentioned the 4% SWR and said that nowadays try to live off 3% for the first few years of retirement since 4% is coming into question.
Then they profiled two questions/comments sent in from viewers via social media. The first one was from a young woman that said, "I want to retire early, while I'm still young enough to enjoy traveling and doing all the things I want to do," or something along those lines. It wasn't even a question, just a statement that she intends to retire early!
So who on this board sent the comment? BTW, the comment was not met with scorn or ridicule, and the PF correspondent's response was simply to "save a lot" and max out 401k/IRA withholdings, so that was okay.
