I think I was most impressed with their college plans (start at community college, don't get anything from mom & dad, graduate without debt), especially since they have 3 or 4 kids already living that dream, even going onto graduate school in some cases (except for the one kid who will wind up with a $90k loan!).

Think it's also great that the kids said themselves that they aren't any worse for wear. If you raise kids to respect money, they won't want for everything.

I wonder if they read MMM...

I also like their emphasis on scholarships and bursaries.

I want to say Pete interviewed the dad once.  I know I first read about them on the Mad FIentist's site.

Reading the comments... why can't people just be happy for them?
Quote
"The bottom line is I and you are helping to support this family."
... does that commenter want a thank-you letter from this family?

I feel like the public just wants to see these families "fail": maybe to be really socially awkward, or to have scandals like the Duggars. Show them a great family, whose kids are already adjusted, productive members of society, and they just can't take it.

I enjoyed 95% of the article. The only part I didn't like was when it said none of the kids got any "handouts." A few sentences later it said that each child got $5000 for college from their grandparents.
