We've been so very lucky to have Nords as one of our blogging mentors and he was right, this is a wonderful PF community!
Please drop by and say hello :-)
The perpetual blogger question is "Where do I find more readers?", and one of my answers is "Internet forums, especially the ones where they encourage you to list your blog!"
But you raise a good point: I should have mentioned the program on this thread a long time ago.
I've been a member of Jana L's "Bloggers Helping Bloggers" program for a little over a year. (
http://blogmentoring.com/) She pairs mentors with mentees for six weeks of e-mails, phone calls, Skype, Google Hangouts-- whatever way we prefer to communicate. We work through about 50 questions on blogger techniques, problems, goals, and other support. It may appear that I'm sitting back on my fat... laurels... and pontificating about arcane minutia, but it's just like martial arts: coaching another martial artist on a skill also forces you to understand what you're doing, to articulate it, and to know why it's necessary.
My best military duty stations were training commands, and I enjoyed being an instructor. During a blogger mentoring session I learn at least as much as I share, and my blogging gets better every time I do it. I've also met people who I'd probably never run into any other way, so it's been very helpful at getting out of my rut and learning new skills. Jana even runs a one-hour face-to-face BHB session at FinCon, and that's a lot of fun-- a lightning round of Q&A instead of leisurely reviews of issues or problems.
If you've been blogging for a while and want to mentor someone, Jana would love to hear from you. If you're a newer blogger and you want some help, she'd be happy to hear from you too. (Or, of course, you could just ask us a question here on the forum.) And if you're a personal finance blogger, you'll really enjoy FinCon14 in New Orleans on 18-20 September.
