The Art of Manliness
« on: October 13, 2015, 12:26:23 PM »
I recently discovered this website and though I balk a bit at the address and some of the articles, particularly under the heading of style, I've found a number of good reads that are quite Mustachian in spirit.  Thought it was worth a share to a couple of good ones I've come across:

Great blog. Brett (founder of AoM) interviewed MMM for his podcast a couple of months ago.

I enjoyed the one on cheap recreation.  I think he might be overstating how common helicopter moms are...I'm a millenial (barf) and my friends and I spent tons of time doing unstructured activities!  Many of them revolved around getting drunk and smoking pot haha.

I'm sure some areas of the country lend themselves better to unstructured activities than others though.  As a Vermont kid it was always pretty easy to go hiking or go down to the river and waste away an evening next to a campfire.  I don't think that would be true if I grew up in some hellish suburb or next to a strip mall.

He did indeed! It was fantastic, and can be found here: http://www.artofmanliness.com/2015/08/27/podcast-133-how-to-attain-financial-independence-via-the-strenuous-life/

Brett's Art of Manliness is tied with Mr. Money Mustache for my favorite website/blog/online thinker

Has Brett talked about Mormonism at all?  His bio page hints pretty strongly at his faith.

I think he mentions it in passing sometimes. And certain Mormon-related themes show up in his blog (eg family home evening). However, I think he does a good job in keeping the blog religion-neutral and inclusive. For example, he includes articles on alcohol, which is decidedly un-Mormon.
