http://www.wsbradio.com/news/news/gwinnett-teen-awakes-coma-speaking-spanish/nstFs/This is not the first case of its kind!
A couple of things these stories teach me:
1) our brains are capable of infinitely more than we know
2) the "I'm going to look/sound stupid" part of our brains is in control far too much of the time, and the "I don't give a rat's" is inactive too much of the time.
3) since our brains and bodies can do these amazing things, we need to stop telling ourselves we can't do XXX
Obviously the WORDS WERE THERE, because this is not voodoo, it's just that the person was afraid to speak them because they worried about not doing so perfectly. I've read that people attempting to learn a foreign tongue do better if they drink a little alcohol (deactivating the "stupid" anxiety). I've been trying to teach myself french for a couple of years, and find that I freeze up when encountering a native speaker, but I can DREAM conversations in french.
