Saw this being made fun of on Facebook.

Seems to me like it would be great for flat, open yards!  I live in an apartment now but support the use of push reel mowers.  Noise reduction? Check.  Battery/combusion engine replacement? Check.  Exercise? Check.

I hear brooms and rakes still work in 2013 as well.

The "redneck exercise bike" might not be for everyone but I thought it was being lampooned unfairly by the majority (some did think it could be useful).

Incredibly dangerous, and most likely nonfunctional.

Why would it be any more dangerous than a regular lawn mower?

I think it's a great idea, if you have a bigger lawn that's laid out in fairly smooth mowing paths.  Could be a pain if you have to mow around trees, flower beds, and so on.

Tiny wheels that get stuck in any rut hidden in your lawn, the weight of a grown adult pushing down on said tiny wheels, the fact that you'd likely need to stand up to propel yourself across the lawn, exposed blades....

I dunno maybe it's just my irrational fear of leaning over a cheese grater.

I love it.

I'm surprised that someone hasn't attached it to the front fork of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle...

Though I've got an even better idea for version 2.0: make the mower a trailer, then you can unhook it when the mowing's done, and ride the bike.

I'd be much more onboard with that.

In the world I see - you are towing a bicycle plow in the quinoa fields surrounding the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll carry a bicycle trailer full of bottles of goat's milk along the thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures operating bicycle-powered lawnmowers, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway.

Looks like somebody else has already done the trailer: http://www.treehugger.com/bikes/the-cutting-edge-bicycle-lawnmowing.html.

The concept of of cutting the grass with a bike is really exciting!
