During a visit with my brother I was watching my niece do her homework, it was pretty easy and did not take her more than 1/2 an house to complete, she's in 1st grade.  I then find out that they have worksheets for pre-school and thought about getting some for my son, he doesn't go to pre-school.  I figured I'd give him a head start, like the low income program.  Then I saw this on the web and now want to see the documentary Race To Nowhere.

Has anyone seen it?  Is it as bad as they say it is?  I have a neighbor in the and heard the parents complain that his teacher in 3rd grade gave tons of homework.

For those who have high school kids how accurate is this documentary/article about tons of homework and pressure to perform?  Coming from a low income school environment I never had this kind of pressure, my pressures were to make it home without getting beat-up.  I guess they never expected much from us.  Because of my background I was looking forward to being involved in my kids education, homework, projects, even looking forward to visiting colleges with them when the time comes is they choose to attend.  But at the same time I guess I have to be aware of the pressures to perform in a highly competitive environment.
