London is great for city cycling. Easy to navigate, well-lit, mostly flat. I never had a car when I lived there and it never even occurred to me that I could need one.

Sorry Martyn!

London is a good city to cycle ... Though I am only just over 2 miles from work so I walk in and get the bus home (not so mustachian yet then)!   But at least no car - we have a car club car and van right over the road, but we hardly ever need to use those even... :-).  There are a few hills, but not in the centre (and even further out it's not exactly San Francisco ... I think the only city I HAVE cycled in).

The cycle hire scheme is expanding closer and closer to where I live though, so who knows, maybe I will give it a go!
