I read this article as well, and while it's not news to anyone on this forum, it made me think about the positive health benefits of early retirement and if early retirement were a pharmaceutical company developed solution or a surgical intervention, we'd be signing docs up for informational sessions and empowering patients through TV advertisement to ask their doctors today about early retirement.  Side effects may include using a bike for transportation, thinking rationally about your purchases, cooking at home more, not giving an eff about the Jones'...

How could you ever market this idea as a health intervention?  In my line of work, I consistently see where a lot of the social determinants of health we are focused on addressing are, to some extent, attributable to seniors aging without enough financial security to support a healthy lifestyle.
