Something like that is being planned in my neck of the woods.

That sounds so nice.  If we Americans put a small fraction of our urban freeway budget towards bike infrastructure like this, we'd do even better than that.

The Texas one sounds nice, but maybe not so useful.  My  hometown is doing something similar with greenways, but it perpetuates the idea that a bicycle is just recreation and not transportation.  It's still hard to connect up to all the places you need to go.

My little city is slowly but surely building more dual use paths. We have a path going in over I-95 which is a big improvement from trying to ride on the main roads. Once complete, I will be able to travel the 5 or so miles to my grocery store without ever having to ride on a road that is more than 25 mph. My city is expanding its bike paths with the end goal being bike paths throughout the city.
