As an estate planning and probate attorney, I've had the pleasure of telling charities that they were receiving money from an estate. Sometimes they are matter-of-fact about it and unimpressed, and sometimes they are incredibly grateful. It's not my money, but I get to enjoy being the messenger. In my experience, the smaller the charity, the more grateful they are for any size gift.
