Hi.  I live in Wheeling, WV.  It's an old city with plenty of great architecture.  Unfortunately there isn't much money in the downtown any many homes from the 1800s are in rough shape.   Well the neighboring home from the late 1800s has been abandoned for at least 7 years and had a fire! Thankfully someone bought it and is doing a mostly DIY renovation.  I know they paid less than $15,000 for the home.  I am really hoping they stick with it!

Here is a link to their facebook page.  Pretty cool.

I cannot believe that they purchased that house for $15k.  I feel like you couldn't buy that many bricks for $15k!  What an incredible house.

I agree that @ $15k it's a steal. It looks like a TON of work but fun at the same time. It will be a beautiful space once they are done renovating.

You can pick up houses like that for $15K all over the midwest.

That is a huge undertaking to do a full remodel on that old beast.
Would be a very challenging and lengthy project for a skilled construction company.
It's a monstrous project for a couple to take on.  Hope they stick with it.

I'd be worried about the structural aspect. Then again, if it's stood for a hundred plus years, whose to say it won't stand a few more centuries.
