Christopher Schwarz calls himself an anarchist.  He is a big name in woodworking.  He used to edit Popular Woodworking, then he decided to pay off his house, teach woodworking classes, and write and publish books he loves.  His best work (IMHO) teaches budding woodworkers (and maybe old masters) about selecting handtools.  He argues against the mainstream that surreptitiously calls woodworkers, or any hobbyist really to buy buy buy more and more tools (or whatever your hobby calls for.  I'd put him in the Mustachian category and many readers here (even if not woodworkers) might find his blog and books interesting.

Thanks for the link. I'm a novice woodworker who feels the pull to buy more and more tools. However, I remember watching my now 80-year-old dad make beautiful things using hand tools, and what would now be considered crude, rudimentary, power tools. I only wish to match his work. His mantra was use what you got and make it work.

I have been investigating woodworking lately. The site which turned me onto it was Instructables.com Right now, my project is to carve a hookah pipe out of a 3 foot piece of oak which I found in my firewood pile. The project will probably require a lathe, which in true Mustachian DIY style; I am planning on constructing myself.
