Title: Leonard Cohen on austerity
Post by: Zoot on July 03, 2017, 12:53:26 PM
Not "around the web" technically, since it was on an e-mail, but close enough and worth sharing nevertheless.  :)

"I have always been attracted to the voluptuousness of austerity. I never chose the style of my life because it hurt. It was on the contrary. I feel most comfortable and most abundant when things are very simple and I know where everything is and there’s nothing around that I don’t need."

But didn't Leonard have to do all these tours before he died because his agents scammed him and what he thoought was enough money for his own retirement, wasn't?

I think it was a fairly sordid affair with his manager who used to be his lover(?)--and after stealing the money, she was calling him constantly to harass him. I can only assume that if Cohen was successfully practicing Buddhism that all of this didn't perturb him too much. My favorite of his was Songs of Love and Hate.
